Need To See A New Family Movie?

Sunday, June 13th, 2010

Since I just got to see the Disney movie Prince of Persia, I have for you the Prince of Persia movie review. The ending somewhat worked for the film although I was not pleased with it, however the characters were in sync with the game and the action and plot were good and easy to follow. Although Disney may have slightly messed up the ending, I think the casting was really good. Spoilers are contained in this review.

The plot was very easy to keep up with. The prince was found by the king in the marketplace when he was standing up for a friend. This courageous act impressed the king and he immediately adopted him making him a prince. He is later, when he is older, deceived by his brother into giving the king a robe that kills him. Now the prince is trying to figure out why his brother would set him up like this, while being a fugitive on the run. Will he be able to prove that his is not guilty and try to find out for sure was it his brother that did this?

The characters were pretty accurate to the game. The prince and the princess’s witty banter and argument continually boarder line flirting. The princess comes off as headstrong and feisty as ever and the prince comes off a clumsy and charming like he is supposed to. The agility, the look, and even the accent are actually well done as they take you on this adventure.

The action in the movie was great. The fight scenes and the ones that had the dagger in it were awesome as well as intriguing. With this action, it kept you on the end of your seat. I was surprised that some of the action scenes looked computer generated, but it not so disappointing that it’s not worth looking at. The end of the movie wrapped up everything a little too cleanly. They find out who was the real culprit (I won’t tell) and everyone is okay because time was reversed. With how many people die in this film the ending in which everyone lives seems to be a slight contrast in the direction it was going.

Overall this would be a 4 out of 5. It really is a good movie but because of the ending and the special effects, only the obviously computer generated ones, it would still be four. Boys can get into the movie because of the action and girls can enjoy the love story that is displayed before them, makes it a movie the family can enjoy. Honestly, the whole family can enjoy this. Well that’s all I got for the Prince of Persia movie review.
